Set in 1960,a story about the handsome Yuddy (Leslie Cheung), who learns from his “mother†that she isn't his biological mother, but to keep him from abandoning her, she refuses to reveal his mother's name. Yuddy starts up two relationships, one with Su Li Zhen (Maggie Cheung), a quiet, simple girl who works at a sports arena ticket window; and the other with a loud dancer named Mimi (Carina Lau). But love can be dangerous for his freedom, because Yuddy sees himself as a bird of paradise - mythical bird that has no legs and can't settle down. All he wants is leave for Philippines in pursuit of biological mother. Meanwhile his friend Tide (Andy Lau) falls for Mimi and lonely policeman (Jacky Cheung) meets Su Li Zhen...
